Next to the broad range of courses in various cities Jewel Heart organises several other activities, such as visits by teachers, retreats, open meditation evenings, and humanitarian and cultural activities.
VisitsGelek Rimpoche visits the Netherlands twice a year, usually in November/December and in April/May. Other (Tibetan) teachers regularly teach weekends or one or several days as well. Most lectures and retreats are open to both the general public and advanced practitioners.
Open meditation eveningsThe open meditation evenings are open for all those who want to become familiar with meditation or who enjoy meditating together.
Humanitarian and Cultural ActivitiesOne of Jewel Heart's goals is to contribute to the preservation and promotion of Tibetan Buddhist culture. Often in cooperation with other organizations, Jewel Heart offers programs that put Tibetan culture in the spotlight. In the recent past there have been shows of song and dance, art exhibitions, the creation of a sand mandala, etc. Jewel Heart also regularly opens its doors to foreign or domestic groups that need a stage for fundraising activities, benefits, etc.
The humanitarian activities consist of several projects that are supported by Jewel Heart or its members, the work group 'Around Dying' and the 'School Program'.
