Jewel Heart has close connections with a number of projects in Tibet and among the Tibetan community in Northern India. These projects include both official and unofficial sponsoring of monks, nuns and projects among Tibetans.Hélène van Hoorn-fundThe Hélène van Hoorn Fund supports the education and development of a number of young monks who were recognized as Tulkus at a very early age.The Jatson Chumig School & OrphanageFor more information visit the website of the Jatson Chumig school & Orphanage. The Tara FoundationIn 2001, the Tara Foundation was established by Thubten Dolkar, a Dutch student of Gelek Rimpoche. Its mission is to support underpriviliged children and refugees in India and Nepal. The foundation runs different projects, like a school for the pooreste children of Nagargot (Nepal), aid to seriously handicapped children in Bihar (India) and support of Tibetan monks and nuns in India and Nepal. You can support general projects through the foundation, but there is also great need for individual sponsoring of monks and nuns. This is a very direct way to give financial and moral support to groups of people with a weak position in society who live in very poor circumstances. Your contribution can make a world of difference to them. For practicing Buddhists, supporting Tibetan monks and nuns is a wonderful way to contribute to the preservation of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings and to give something back to the community that enriches our lives with its ancient wisdom. 100 per cent of all donations to the Tara Foundation is spent on projects. The Board of the Foundation pays all overhead and other costs. You can read more about the Tara Foundation and its projects on www.tara-stichting.com.
