Tarabox270The Tara Box

Tara is the best-known and most beloved feminine deity of Buddhism. She has vowed to help others unconditionally while remaining in the female form. Tara is traditionally called mother, virgin and queen. Like a perfect mother, she provides unconditional love. Like a virgin, she is whole and complete unto herself. Like a queen, she is noble and generous.

The Tara box consists of a text book of 96 pages, a storage box that can be transformed into a mini-altar (16x10x6cm, hxwxd) and a fine die-cast Tara statue of synthetic resin.

The textbook explains who Tara is and who can make a connection with her. The altar may be used to perform the rituals and meditations described in the book. Never before have these texts been published for a wide public. The rituals aim at healing based on compassion, long life and protection against the eight fears, pride, ignorance, anger, jealousy, misconception, avarice, lust and doubt. Both the rituals and practices are explained very clearly and are easy to carry out. They will appeal to people that are familiar with Buddhism as well as those who are new to meditation.

The price of the Tara Box is € 29.95 including shipping inside the Netherlands. The Tara Box may be ordered by transferring the stated amount to ING bank account no. 5712289, in the name of Jewel Heart. Please state "Tara Box order" and your full address.

Good Life Good Death - Tibetan Wisdom on Reincarnation

"Is there life after death?" Few questions are more challenging than this. In his book 'Good Life, Good Death', Gelek Rimpoche, a Tibetan lama who was shaped by the same teachers who taught the Dalai Lama, addresses important questions such as "Who are we?", "Where do we come from?", "Where are we headed?" and "How do we get there?"

Supported by his own experience and centuries-old studies on reincarnation, Rimpoche answers these questions. He writes about the dying process, life after death, and the possibility of knowing beforehand where our lives are headed. But especially - and this is what makes the book so special - he tells us how we can prepare ourselves for a good life as well as a good death. He gives special attention to techniques that can reduce, or even take away, anger and attachment, and that can strengthen our patience and mindfulness.

His style of writing is easily accessible yet, shows his deep knowledge about the subject matter. The book is recommended by such luminaries as the Dalai Lama (who wrote the foreword), Robert Thurman (who introduces the book), Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield and Daniel Goleman.
