| Long Life Pujas |
|
As from January 2009, the Dagyab monks in India perform a one-day Tara puja every month for the long life of our honorable teachers Gelek Rimpoche and Dagyab Rimpoche. This takes place at the initiative of Tibethaus Germany, Jewel Heart The Netherlands and Jewel Heart USA. Gelek Rimpoche is the reincarnation of a highly appreciated master from Dagyab, who was the abbot of the Gyüto Tantric College and teacher of Ling Rinpoche. Dagyab Rinpoche, the spiritual leader of the Tibet Houses since many generations Lord Protector (Kyabgön) of the Dagyab region in Eastern Tibet. As patron, Dagyab Rinpoche is the spiritual leader of this region, and since the fifties also the secular leader of this region with some 47,000 inhabitants. Both came to the West in the sixties as young men, where they teach the Dharma at the request of European and American students. Who will perform these pujas? The large monastery universities are traditionally organized in "Khangtsen" (Houses). Monks that come from the same region, are living together in a Khangtsen. The houses of monks from Dagyab are called "Nyagre Khangtsen"; and both the Drepung and Ganden monasteries have one. The small but renowned Ratö monastery mainly accommodates monks from Dagyab. These three institutes – Nyagre Khangtsen Drepung, Nyagre Khangtsen Ganden and the Ratö monastery – will take turns in performing the pujas. Jewel Heart Nederland is immensely pleased with this concentration of positive forces and calls up all students of Gelek Rimpoche and Dagyab Rimpoche to support these special efforts by their own practice and by making donations. Through the spiritual connection, long life practice for the teacher also works as practice for our own long lives. |
